Logitech Fixes Your Laptop's Heat Problems, Slouchy Posture With the N100, N110
The N100 probably won't surprise anyone—it's a more or less run-of-the-mill laptop cooling pad, powered by a single USB plug and avowing everything that such accessories do: silence! longevity! minimal impact on battery life! Really, the N100 is notable not for what it does, but because it's a reasonably-priced ($30) unit from a reputable company in an arena dominated by overpriced, heavy do-it-all units and shitty, off-brand Office Depot specials.
Logitech's second launch for the day is a laptop stand, but there's not much to say about it that isn't evident in the picture. There are three tilt settings for propping your laptop up, and the unit folds flat for easy transport. The price is also $30, which, for its pedestrian styling and lack of any kind of electronics, is a little harder to stomach than for the N100. Both units fit most netbooks or laptops up to 15.4", and will be available soon: the N100 this month, and the N110 in May.

Windows 7 Vs. Vista: Which Runs Crysis Fasterer?
edium-length answer short: It's pretty much the same! Sometimes Vista wins, sometimes Windows 7 will squeak out an extra frame per second over Vista. Overall, across all of the games tested, higher end two-in-one cards seem to eke out most of their wins in Windows 7 though, especially with the ATI cards.
It bodes pretty well. You definitely won't lose any performance moving to Windows 7, and it's likely going to get even better as we move to the final OS and Nvidia and ATI keep cranking out drivers. So maybe not today, but one day, Windows 7 it seems like will run Crysis (and most any other game) faster than Vista.

Finalized USB 3.0 ... Coming Soon
A new major feature is the SuperSpeed bus, which increases the maximum transfer rate to 5.0 Gbit/s.
USB 3.0 receptacles are compatible with USB 2.0 device plugs for the respective physical form factors. However, only USB 3.0 Standard-B receptacles can accept USB 3.0 Standard-B device plugs.
The protocol uses Dual-simplex, over four additional wires, differential signaling separate from USB 2.0 signaling (thus six wires total) to achieve the full Superspeed 5.0 Gbit/s.
The protocol supports full-duplex data transfers. In addition, data transaction is based on asynchronous traffic flow with explicitly routed packet traffic, instead of the polled broadcast packet traffic in USB 2.0. A streams mode is added for bulk transfer mode. SuperSpeed protocol also supports continuous burst transfers.
New power management features include support of idle, sleep and suspend states,as well as link and function-level power management.
The bus power spec has been increased so that a unit load is 150mA (+50% over USB 2.0). An unconfigured device can still draw only 1 unit load, but a configured device can draw up to 6 unit loads (900mA, an 80% increase over USB 2.0). Minimum device operating voltage is dropped from 4.4V to 4V.
USB 3.0 does not define cable assembly lengths, except that it can be of any length as long as it meets all the requirements defined in the specification. However, electronicdesign.com estimated cables will be limited to 3 m at full speed.
Technology is similar to PCI Express 2.0 (5-Gbit/s). It uses 8B10B encoding, linear feedback shift register (LFSR) scrambling for data, spread spectrum. It forces receivers to use low frequency periodic signaling (LFPS), dynamic equalization, and training sequences to ensure fast signal locking.

Chartered Semiconductor plans to raise US$300m through rights offering
Shares of Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing were suspended from trade Monday pending an announcement. Reports said Chartered is planning to raise about US$300 million through a rights offering to boost its capital base. Citigroup, Deutsche Bank AG and Morgan Stanley were said to be working with Chartered on the offering, the fourth since late last year. Singapore’s investment company Temasek Holdings owns 59 per cent of Chartered. Chartered, the world's third-largest chip maker, had been hit by a supply glut and falling chip prices. It had forecast a record loss in its fiscal first quarter. Chartered had also said it would lay off 600 employees, taking its total job cuts to 1,300 positions, or 18 per cent of its workforce.

GM May Go Bust

General Motors Corp on Thursday said its auditors had raised 'substantial doubt' about its ability to survive outside bankruptcy if it fails to stem its losses and stop burning cash.
The 'going concern' warning from the struggling US automaker had been expected, but underscored the stakes for GM as it seeks up to US$30 billion in US government aid to restructure outside a court-supervised bankruptcy process.

Michael Jackson Gets Mobbed at the Royal Theatre
Blowing kisses and waving, Micheal Jackson was mobbed by fans as he arrived with his children to watch Rowan Atkinson perform in the hit musical “Oliver” in London on Friday evening (March 6).
The reclusive “King of Pop” recently announced a series of London concerts after a long absence from the tour circuit, seemingly ready to take over the music world, once more.
Just yesterday, Jackson told an audience of thousands, “I love you so much. Thank you all. This is it. I just want to say that these will be my final shows, performances in London. This will be it, this is it and when I say this is it I really mean this is it because...I’ll be performing the songs my fans want to hear. This is it, I mean this is really it. This is the final curtain call and I’ll see you in July and I love you. I really do and you have to know that. I love you so much, really, from the bottom of my heart.”
Meanwhile, an insider adds, “To say he’s psyched up for these dates is an understatement. He’s taken a lot of flak over the last few years with people saying he’d never sing again. He is desperate to prove them wrong.”
